Allow Editing UDFs in Document Rows! (05.2025)

This week, we’ll talk about how SAP Business One offers greater flexibility in editing User Defined Fields (UDFs) in document rows. You can now allow editing of these fields even when the document lines are not editable, adapting the system’s behavior to your business needs and improving the management of information in documents.

User-Defined Fields are like spices. Similar to specific combination of spices that creates a unique flavor, the way UDFs are implemented is tailored for each business. Key advantage of UDFs is their great flexibility. UDFs in document rows become a seamless part of the document which is of course a benefit, however in sometimes it is required that UDFs would behave differently. For such use cases, SAP Business One introduces a new level of flexibility by allowing to edit the UDFs in document rows regardless the document status or row status:

For each document type, you can choose whether to open the UDFs in the document rows for editing while the document rows are not editable. For example:
